Oxidizing Agent Chemistry Definition
Oxidizing Agent Chemistry DefinitionOxidizing agents are very important in the daily life of the customer. This is because they are the one responsible for the product to be suitable to their usage. Thus, they must be used carefully to meet all your requirements so that it would be a good quality product. The oxidation process may have different forms like fire, smoke, wind, cold, oxygen etc. depending on its application. So the oxidation process can also be described as a step of transformation of a solid or liquid substance into another substance that has a favorable chemical property that is the same with the original substance. The properties of organic compounds can be changed into another by the use of oxidizing agents. They may be used in different industries like: food processing, petrochemical industry, mining, steel industry, energy sector, pharmaceutical industry, agriculture industry etc. that are able to convert the product into an efficient one.An oxidizing agent is in es sence an organic substance that may be the raw material of the natural reaction and it may be reacting with the heat energy of the substance. The product that is transformed is called the form of oxidized product. It may vary from the natural form of the product to the amorphous form. When a chemical product is combined with the oxidizing agent, it produces a product that is completely different from the original chemical product. The main function of the oxidizing agent is to alter the chemical form into a more appropriate form. They are generally available in different forms like: Benzene, Hydroquinone, Ethylbenzene, Formaldehyde, Acetone, Toluene, Vinyl Chloride, Ethylene dichloride, ethylene glycol, Ketone, Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), Iodined Linoleate etc. These chemical products are useful in various applications. Hence the chemist has to be aware of the common usage of each of these organic chemicals so that there would be no problem when required. Though these chemicals are essential in the industry but it may be harmful to the environment. One way to reduce its negative effect is to dilute the organic chemicals to an acceptable level so that it would be less harmful to the environment. Dilution is a step that may be done through a solvent or by using a combination of different alcohols, glycols, ethanol, chloroform etc. Once the amount of the chemical used is less than the original amount, it would be effective in reducing the amount of the chemical product. Thus we can say that it would be a safe and high quality alternative that is very effective for our industrial production. That is why it should be used in order to save the environment from the harmful effects of chemicals.
